The Resort at Pelican Hill Welcome Reception & Rehearsal Dinner | Danielle & Jon
It was such an honor to plan Danielle and Jon’s destination wedding weekend at The Resort at Pelican Hill. These two and their families are just so wonderful and I loved every moment of the planning process with them. As many of you know, destination weddings are not just a one day affair and I had the privilege of planning three incredible days of events in honor of Danielle and Jon’s big day! We are featuring the Welcome Reception and Rehearsal Dinner here and be sure to check back later to preview their wedding day! Day 1 Welcome Reception – Everyone was so excited to check in and begin celebrating Danielle and Jon! We kicked things off with a lovely outdoor coastal California welcome reception designed by Shawna Yamamoto that was complete with chic lounge furniture, striped linens, lanterns, beachy floral arrangements and string lights from Amber Event Production. In keeping with the theme, Ice Bulb created a huge 8 foot wide ice seafood display with shellfish holders built into the tentacles! It was jaw dropping! Creating a fun, interactive experience for their guests was a huge priority for this thoughtful family so rather than do a more typical welcome bag delivery to guest rooms, we actually created a giant gifting lounge that guests were able to “shop” from. We had customized tote bags that each guest was able to fill up with goodies like B. Toffee, Rusty’s Island Chips, Compartes chocolate bars, Balboa Island salt water taffy, Kuba Kreations cookies, Funky Chunky pretzel snacks, apparel from Young and Reckless and the Pelican Hill gift shop just to name a few! It was a huge hit and the guests were all so excited to stock up on all of these wonderful treats for the weekend festivities. It was definitely an amazing start to an incredible weekend!Day 2 Rehearsal Dinner – As I mentioned before, creating an entire experience, from the food and wine to the entertainment, for their guests was the top priority for this family and we did just that at the Rehearsal Dinner on day two of their wedding weekend. Wine tasting was on tap for this occasion and guests were able to sample twelve different wines and indulge in yummy risotto, as well as delicious charcuterie that was styled so perfectly by Shawna Yamamoto. Shawna also created gorgeous arrangements comprised of purple pepper berries, artichokes and persimmons in keeping with the Tuscan theme. This was an extra special day, not only because it was the wedding rehearsal dinner, but it was also our groom Jon’s birthday! Ice Bulb created ice balls that were etched with “HB Jon” that were a super fun detail implemented in the drinks that were tray passed upon guest arrival. Ice Bulb worked their magic this weekend that’s for sure - just wait until you see what they created on the wedding day! The evening took a surprise twist when the “Singing Waiters” began performing. Guests had no idea they were in character until they grabbed the mic and began their routine. These two days were such a fantastic way to kick off the wedding festivities and we can’t wait to show you Danielle and Jon’s wedding day!
