Montage Laguna Beach Wedding | Molly & Erick

An oldie but a goodie...one of my all-time favorite weddings. I feel this wedding was very progressive in design considering it was produced in 2006! I remember I was heavily pregnant when I first met Molly and Erick at their home in LA. I was amazed at their collection of Asian antiques and furniture. When you first arrive to their doorstep, you would be greeted with a ornate Chinese Altar table and candles and a statue of buddha.  That was the inspiration we needed to create an unique wedding perfect, for the ying and yang couple. The majestic lawn at the Montage Laguna Beach Resort was the perfect serene backdrop for our massive stone buddha, creating a calm and peaceful zen garden for the ceremony. Instead of the traditional ring bearer pillow, the couple chose to use a very large fortune cookie to handle the rings! We strung the rings threw a ribbon and put them inside of the cookie. In order for them to get them out, they had to crack the cookie! How fun and different. Molly loved tea and we would sometimes have our meetings at a tea house in LA where you add Boba to them. So we brought a tapioca tea station to enhance our cocktail hour! Long wood dining tables and red booth banquet seating were created to allow for a non traditional hotel dining experience. This wedding was more about the props, and not the floral, it was about the lighting and the textures on the walls, the branch patterns infused on the drapes. The silk brocade runner and the candle trays along with ceramic and wood urns and small buddhas throughout. Had so much fun working with Fiori Fresco in producing this masterpiece. We offered guests chopsticks to use for their first course and guests left with glass buddha bracelets representing peace and happiness. Hand sugar cherry blossom flowers gradually climb up this 5 tier wedding cake. Rather than using a traditional cake stand, we used a mahogany plant stand! And how darling are the Montage staff!!  Loved that they dressed the part for this event...an all around Asian inspired wedding!
