The Ranch Laguna Beach Wedding | Mika & Rafai
Mika and Rafai’s wedding was truly beautiful and reflected their unique love story! This gorgeous couple actually met in Japan as middle schoolers (Rafai’s mom is Japanese and his dad is from Trinidad, and Mika’s dad is Japanese/Chinese and her mother is American) but started dating after college when they both happened to end up in LA! It was so fun learning their story and incorporating their cultural traditions and heritage into their wedding. The ceremony took place at The Ranch at Laguna Beach and a lot of natural elements as well as earth tones were integrated into the design. The couple’s love for nature was really embodied by so many aspects of their wedding—the scenery, the bridal party’s wreath crowns, and more.My favorite part of their special day was how Taro, their adopted puppy, was part of their wedding and even wore matching bowties with Rafai! The reception was held outdoors and tables were arranged by different cities that hold a special meaning for the bride and groom. For the reception, the entire bridal party entered Soul Train style, and Mika changed to a stunning 70s inspired jumpsuit to match the groovy mood. To kick off the night, Mika and Rafai did a traditional Sake Breaking ceremony. Guests were all given their own sake masu (sake box) to partake in the ceremony and celebrate with the bride and groom. Everything about this day was so unique and I’m glad to have met such a down-to-earth and kind couple. Congratulations and wishing a lifetime of love and happiness to this beautiful couple!
