Grace’s Shower Featured on The Knot

We are excited to see Grace’s shower featured in the The Knot Winter 2010 magazine issue! Grace is Jeannie’s best friend and it was a joy for Jeannie to plan her wedding shower. The shower took place at the Pinot Provence in Costa Mesa. The patio made an adorable setting and went well with the garden inspired decor. The cupcakes created by Frostings in Lake Forest were a big hit…the lemon flavor was a guest favorite. Nichelle with Details a la Carte produced all the paper goods, I loved Grace’s name strung across the chiavari chairs. By the look on Grace’s face you could tell that she loved the look of her shower! Chenin Boutwell with Boutwell Studio captured all the fun details and memories of this afternoon.

Jane and Gary, Old Friends, New Friendships, Lasting forever

Jane and I think became friends before we even met. We just clicked, I remember her every time she called. I spoke to her beginning of the year but after summer, it was just meant to be! Jane and Gary married this October and had an intimate ceremony and reception at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Beach. When I say intimate, I mean it was not a 400+ Russian wedding. We had some gloomy and rainy days this month but we lucked out with no rain on their wedding day. Jane looked radiant in her Kenneth Pool dress….and her kick a** grey Dior shoes. I want a pair!

Jane chose on a vibrant coral color/infused peaches and trusted Nichelle from Details A La Carte and I to design her invite. Metallic charcoal grey, with a wrap around label, love this modern look for addressing. And the satin ribbon was the perfect enhancement in the back. We worked alongside the creative team and Sunny from White Lilac’s input on floral. Sunny custom made a organic huppah with anemones fluttering in the back. Sara from Heslington Cakes, who is super talented and known for the hand made sugar flowers….you may have seen her work on Food Network Challenges. Thanks Steven for providing the much needed silver chivaris, they said I always ho white chivaris at the Ritz, well, the last 5 weddings yes, but not this time.

My favorite element, the coral rose locket that Jane purchased from etsy. The morning of the wedding, we picked out a photos of her father, and grandmother who cannot be her with Jane, but was with her in spirit and heart. We attached it to her bouquet so they could be with her when she walked down the aisle…..tear.

Chelsea & Omid, Two in Love, Two Weddings in One Day- PART I

Chelsea & Omid wed this past August at the Pelican Resort in Newport Coast. They wanted to incorporate both of their cultures so they decided to have two wedding ceremonies. Great reasons for 2 wedding dresses, and 2 pairs of shoes, girl after my own heart! First they had a Sofreh ceremony in La Capella decorated by Mina’s Flowers. Omid’s mom Ashley brought in some beautiful mirrors and crystals and my favorite, the EGGS! Yes, eggs are my obsession. Later in the afternoon, they have a traditional wedding ceremony on the Event Lawn, after dress and shoe change. Here is part 1 of the two ceremonies.

Driftwood Inspired, Aubrey & Jordan’s Laguna Beach Wedding

Aubrey and Jordan, young hip, stylish, fashion savvy, talented dancers, both musically intelligent, everything I wanted to be when I was in my twenties! Aubrey and Jordan know every artist and song, songs that I love but can never name that tune, but they do have an advantage by working for MTV and MOG. Aubrey knew she wanted a wedding inspired by the ocean, but not too catchy with shells everywhere. After visting several locations, they fell in love with the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach. Aubrey chose an Amy Michelson dress, champagne lace and sheath that fit her perfectly slim figure. She loved the color teal and she knew she wanted the bridesmaids dresses bright. Her ceremony structure and tabletop was developed around natural pieces of driftwood, oatmeal colored ottoman linen from Wildflower Linens, while Nisie of Nisie’s Enchanted added her special touch by suggesting brighter colored flowers such as green cymbidiums, spider mums and blue hydrangeas while not leaving out one of Aubrey’s favs, white phaeleonopsis orchids. Mixing in bottles of teal glass, added a sea glass element while serving as containers for additional floral. Varying height glass containers filled with water, alternating tables, created a nice up and down flow throughout the room.

The LED lights washed the room in aqua when guests entered, turning the room soft amber for dinner and then a light green after dinner. Lighting transitions caused guests to naturally ooh and ahh at the dramatic change in ambiance. Burlap ribbons finished the napkins beautifully. The logo A & J developed originally by Samuel when he created their photo save the dates, was highlighted throughout the wedding. We used it as a gobo for the dance floor and as did Nichelle from Details A La Carte Custom Invitations, created oversized cotton letterpress invitations to reflect a modern, cheerful organic wedding. I have not seen many letterpressed liners before so for this invite, I loved rubbing the liner and feeling the grooves of letterpress.

Celebrate the Sea and the Sand

Town & Country Weddings magazine included a couple fun details from Melissa & Matt’s wedding in their “Celebrate the Sea and the Sand” page. Their wedding ceremony took place on the sand in front of a private estate in Malibu. Featured is an image of the chuppah made from branches, produced by Fiori Fresco Special Events, and a classic invitation by Nichelle, Details a la Carte. John Hong with John and Joseph Photography captured all the details and lifetime memories. I loved all the details that went into this wedding and we are honored to see it featured in the Fall/Winter 2010 issue of Town & Country Weddings.

Here’s a peak into the Town & Country Fall/Winter 2010 issue:

Anuja & Arif’s Wedding at Pelican Resort

This is VERY rare. An Indian wedding with soft colors…usually wedding colors are bright and bold but Anuja’s, a girly girl, with soft apricot, blushy pink, and some vivid splashs of coral and soft green. The Mandap was modern yet, graceful. It was the stage for an Ismaili and Hindu ceremony. This was my first Ismaili ceremony. Adored the chandeliers going down the aisle, with the crystals at the end under the mandap. It got breezy during set up and team White Lilac were untangling crystals for some time!

It was a long day for Anuja, as she started off the morning with the Piti ceremony, for women only. Then an additional 2 ceremonies, 2 hours in length. After the Hindu ceremony, guests headed to cocktails while the bride and groom changed into evening outfits. Guests entered the dinner reception with oohs and ahhs, as again it was not a traditional decor, with an ethereal vibe of greenery and soft warm tones. Nichelle, Details a la Carte, created beautiful papergoods, with a Indian flair, the designs were perfectly suited for the decor! You can see it prominently on the dance floor gobo. Thanks Mike from Shine for putting up with me for days, and freezing the night before. DJ Parag with Special Occassions LA was perfect for the group, played just enough Indian music for the parents and mixed it up with hip hop pop as the night went on. Anuja and Arif ended their 4 day event with brunch at Andrea’s inside Pelican Resort. It was definitely a destination wedding for the couple and the guests as they returned to many different states and countries, even South Africa (long flight!!!)

Kim + Michael, Spring wedding at Pelican Hill

Kim & Michael wed in the springtime at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast. Kim wanted her decor to be soft and pretty using neutral/light colors of natural creams, blushes and lots of greenery. I loved the flower chandelier created by Nisie’s team at Enchanted Florist…it made a beautiful statement! One fun personal touch to their decor was the custom framed table names. Kim decided to use race horses for her table names, since she is a rider herself, and wanted to incorporate her love of riding into the wedding. Thanks Nichelle of Details a la Carte from creating all the paper goods.

The celebration was a blast as James Gang from West Coast Music brought all guests onto the dance floor! Guests took a lot of silly photos in the photo booth by Pacific Photobooths. Aaron Delesie photographed the happy couple and Elysium Productions captured them through videography.

Kelly & James’ Montage Wedding

I loved working with Kelly & James, they are both amazing people and together make a great couple. When you meet Kelly & James you instantly notice their charismatic personalities. They are just as charming in person as they look in their photographs. I love Kelly’s cool/funky style (especially her crazy nail polish colors) and James’ lovely accent.

Kelly & James had a true destination wedding with guests coming from the east coast and all the way from the UK! They got married at the Montage in Laguna Beach…the perfect California beach setting.

Thank you Nisie for the wedding decor, Elysium Productions for capturing the wedding on video, and Braedon for sharing your photos with us (and chasing after that wild bunny for Kelly)!
