Gracie & Kyle- Instant Love at Montage

Gracie & Kyle were married on a sunny summer day at the Montage in Laguna Beach. Gracie & Kyle knew that the Montage was the perfect location to get married, not just because it is beautiful, but it was actually the spot they first laid eyes on each other. Gracie & Kyle met in the hot tub at the Montage, and their joke is that the Montage angels were present that day. At the end of the reception, they gave out apple green striped towels and asked guests to join them at the pool and hot tub the following day.

Shades of peach, coral and green made a fun and summery atmosphere! The bridesmaids’ bouquets had little birds tucked into the flowers, and both Gracie’s bouquet and Kyle’s boutonniere had touches of feathers. Sunny with White Lilac transformed the ceremony site and ballroom into a dream. The capped table cloths were girly and beautiful, stunning Sunny! Everyone walked in and screamed, “oh the room is so Gracie”. I loved the personalized gobo on the white seamless dace floor by Platinum Pro. Their dance floor was filled by all their guests as they rocked out all night long to West Coast Music’s Side Effect. This group loved the live music!

Gracie has great taste; she found the coral bridesmaids dresses herself…so darn cute! We designed the paper goods to match the coral dresses. Nichelle from Details A La Carte, created a four petal rose, clover like for the monogram as Gracie loves that design from LV and also wanted a modern monogram. Gracie looked stunning in her Vera Wang dress, which was the perfect style for her California wedding. The rosettes on her dress were inspiration for the design of their wedding cake created by Linda at The Cake Studio.

Summer Sunshine at the Ritz

Julie and Dan have moved to Maryland by now but I had the pleasure of planning the wedding with Julie while she was still in LA. Julie was open minded to color combinations and loved the yellow and gray combination, as it reminded her of sun and summer. Their wedding took place at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel in June and it was a warm, but not hot day…it was perfect weather. The room was lit up in a light yellow while the grey linens mellowed out the bright and buttery flowers. Nisie from Enchanted Florist surprised us all with her magic and getting yellow peonies the week of the wedding, as they opened, the orange centered popped with a splash of color. Our Nichelle, Details A La Carte, created custom invites, with the sophisticated Ritz Carlton in mind, girly too….had to be, just like Julie.

Next blog will be a sneak peak at our new Petite Sweets Station that we launched at this wedding.

YWD Feature, Sex and the City Inspired Shower

Thanks to Thea from Your Wedding Day for the opportunity to be featured in Spring/Summer issue, out on newstands now. With the creative efforts of Thea and Rita (our lovely and dear publicist), Mayanne and Tina had a gorgeous and memorable shower. It was great working with all the vendors below, shopping with Nichelle for lace and fabric, picking out flowers with Nisie to match the amazing linens and chair covers! I had so much fun with the cake design, a few pairs of my favorite shoes last season……I remember it was a HOT day, and I got a bad tan line setting up in the sun. But it was a day filled with fun and love, as their mom gave a great toast to the girls! Can you imagine 2 daughters getting married within months of each other.

Invite Pics

We have been asking a lot lately from photographers at our weddings to shoot amazing pics of our work so we can capture the feeling and background behind our custom invites and coordinating pieces.  We constantly aim to tie in the mood and style into our paper goods and many times what we come up with in the final rounds is even the foundation for the weddings decor and details. Somehow we got this great shot from Julie and Daniels’s recent wedding, of Braedon hard at work for us. THANK YOU so much Braedon of Braedon Photography and all of you great photographers for helping us out!!! {and to whoever you may be for getting this picture to me through the grapevine!} Can’t wait to see the pics!!!

Pillow inspired wedding in Malibu

This wedding was inspired by a PILLOW. Yes, a pillow in shades of metal, from gold, bronze, silver, borrowed from Melissa’s mom Terry. Luckily she didn’t need it as we kept it for almost half a year, matching fabrics, font colors and everything in between. Melissa and Matt had their beach wedding at the home of a dear friend that had access to the beach within steps. Malibu wind can be tricky so a tent was added to the already covered pool deck. The tide was friendly but a platform was built just in case as we did not want Melissa and Matt to be swept away, well not in that gorgeous gown. Table top had to be natural, drift wood but elegant with tons of candles, and vases in gold and silver mercury with pops of soft floral. Fiori Fresco had fun with this one, as he got giddy selecting the flatware.

The modern beach house, floor to ceiling glass window walls, were part of the inspiration for the lucite invites designed by Nichelle of Details A La Carte. But the m&m was Melissa and Matt’s signature, also seen topping the Vanilla Bake Shop wedding cake. Melissa surprised Matt with a groom’s cake, of a porche convertible, with dog Toby in the driver’s seat. Sunny from Filgrees Cake did such an awesome job, she even included the red stitching seen in the leather seats of the car. Good Gracious Catering provided all the exquisite cuisine (one of my favs, Miso Black Cod) and thanks to John for capturing every detail. He has such an ability to remember to get every little thing!

New York-National Stationery Show 2010

I just got back last weekend from the National Stationery Show in New York. Though it was tough to leave during wedding season and though I did get stuck at LAX for 11 hours going there and missed the first night… it was a great trip! I met so many wonderful people and vendors and took away some new ideas I can’t wait to try.

Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Weddings at Martha Stewart Living spoke on wedding stationery trends. Very glad I signed up for that way in advance, as of course it was sold out. Darcy told us that new exclusive surveys found that these are the most important things to brides today when it comes to invitations… quality, cost, color and font selection, and customization. Brides who describe their weddings today say… classic, romantic, relaxed and modern. Websites and magazines are the top 2 sources brides go to for inspirations. I was excited to take my picture with Darcy and Real Weddings and Editorial Coordinator Shira Savada.

There was this sign posted in front of a bead store with chairs for guys. Absolutely HILARIOUS!  Oh yes, and we had wine and cheese at the Plaza Hotel.  Just perfect! I tried to bring my son home a toy from FAO Schwarz, but got to the doors at literally 7:03 pm and they were closing.  So bummed.  Couldn’t believe they close that early on a weekday when there are tons of people walking around.  There’s always next time.

Lisa and Shaun, Vintage Romance in Newport Coast

Vintage Romance with European Botanical flair…is this all possible? Inspired by large birdcages, Lisa fell in love with Sunny’s ideas of White Lilac. Rather than using any wedding magazines, we focused on interior design elements, which brought on the creation of art wall panels. Petit Four Cakes adorned table tops on delicate glass stands, while guests were surprised with their own beautifully wrapped delights at each place setting. Our very own Nichelle from Details A La Carte designed the perfect invitation set, which gave life to the birdcages and hand calligraphered bird escort cards that dangled from branches at the entrance of the ballroom.

Lisa and Shaun who reside in Texas, had their destination wedding at the Resort in Pelican Hill in Newport Coast this past weekend. A wonderful ceremony presided by a Rabbi and a Priest, it was smooth transitions and quite entertaining. Light hearted and personal. With a large wedding party, it was like a vanity fair shoot, with bridesmaids sitting on chaise lounge chairs. Lisa’s gown, a Monique Lhuillier had to be custom fit as Lisa is petite petite. Tiny in a ballgown was not going to work for a Salsa first dance so Lisa changed and surprised all, even her mom. Thanks to all the amazing vendors for making their wedding memorable, beautiful and ethereal. Oh and the cake, to die for! The sugar flowers looked so real and loved the tiny detail inspired from the neckline of Lisa’s dress…thank goodness we have amazing photos as it broke my heart when they disassembled the masterpiece. Jessica Claire, well done, as always.

Joanna + Jason, Love In Beverly Hills

Joanna & Jason not only make a beautiful couple, but they are also super stylish. Joanna in her Jimmy Choos, romantic wedding dress, and bouquet of peonies…what more could a girl wish for! Then there is Jason who added his personal touches of style wearing a black fedora and had cuff links that were miniature ace of spade cards. It was obvious that both Joanna and Jason had fun showing off their style. The wedding ceremony through the dinner reception truly reflected Joanna & Jason. White Lilac stylized everything to have a romantic/old Hollywood feel with touches of rock n’ roll! Joanna & Jason selected cream and chocolate as their colors, but incorporated peacock feathers to spice it up. This wedding was not your predictable creams and browns affair…it had just the right amount of edginess! Photography was by the talented Joe Latter. Joe captured great shots all around The Beverly Hills Hotel. Thanks Joe for sharing your photos with us!

We are excited to share Brita & Ryan’s wedding featured in Destination Weddings & Honeymoons! Brita & Ryan had a beautiful Mexican-influenced ceremony & reception in Punta Mita, Mexico. The talented Fiori Fresco Special Events pulled off the goal of “an outdoor-disco vibe”, and Victor Sizemore captured the wedding through his photography.
