It was exciting to see two of our past Details Details weddings featured in the Bride & Bloom Spring/Summer 2011 issue! Valerie & Jason’s wedding ceremony took place at St. Brendan Catholic Church and the cocktail hour and dinner reception took place at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The yellow and grey color palette was one of my favorite’s in 2010. The florals, linens, and rentals were by the talented White Lilac Inc. The photography was captured by Samuel Lippke, Samuel Lippke Studios. Valerie & Jason make great photos! The invitations, menus & place cards were by Nichelle, Details a la Carte. Valerie & Jason make a fantastic couple and had a rockin’ reception with all their family and friends!

Mimi & Robert had their wedding at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. The venu was the perfect setting for their wedding vision…a clean palette to work that had a modern edge. Shawna Yamamoto, Shawna Yamamoto Event Design, worked with Mimi to create the chic ambiance using her favorite colors purple and green. Mimi’s bouquet was one of the most unique I have seen…an intricate bouquet made of overlapping stips of palm fronds and Vanda orchids. Joey, John & Joseph Photography, captured all the the details that went into the wedding. The wedding was neat to shoot due to the multi-level building, and opportunities for photos at unusual angles. Of course their wedding cake was super cool! Well done Sunny, Filigree Cakes, for making a cake that went exactly with their wedding design.

When Christopher Aldama of Fiori Fresco Special Events called me about doing save the dates and invites for a 50th birthday he was doing and he wanted rosaries and black old lady lace I thought twice. It all came together so amazingly and when you see the pictures from the party at the St. Regis Wine Cellar…what a great idea. Love the table setting and the black funeral chic attire!

Our dear Jane! Wedding was featured today on Style Unveiled! Still love the color combination of coral and grey…thanks Sunny of White Lilac for making it so pretty…I am still in love with the invites. Jane gave Nichelle complete creative freedom on the invites! Thanks for trusting all of us and for your kind words.

As 2010 comes to an end, I thought I would share some of my favorite invitation suites from the year. 2011 here we come. Happy New Year!!!

Light & airy, soft & dreamy are just some of the descriptions I think of when I look back at Erin & Scott’s wedding. Erin & Scott got married at the Montage in Laguna Beach, which was the perfect location for their chic beach wedding. Erin choose a color scheme of surf, sea glass, white and natural sand and Nisie’s Enchanted Florist brought her vision to life! Nichelle, Details a la Carte, worked their Erin’s vision to create beautiful paper goods that tied in with all of the wedding decor! Erin & Scott’s wedding invitation design was seen in throughout the wedding on the menu cards, table name cards, wedding cake, and even on the ice luge.

Here is Part II of Tallia and Gil’s wedding! After the ceremony & cocktail hour guests entered the Montage Ballroom where the space was transformed into a glamorous setting. We draped the room in soft white to create a clean backdrop. The oversized black candelabras with black & white patterned table runners brought a modern feel to the tabletops, while the rest of the decor was in rich shades of purples. As much as Tallia likes modern, it was still romantic with the frilly hydrangeas in lilac to darker purples, flowing orchids, succulents, and lots of candle light. White Lilac did an amazing job with everything and it was fun to have a light and airy ceremony and transition for the dinner reception into more of a night time ambiance. Nichelle, Details a la Carte, created the custom menu cards and table numbers to tie in the design of the room. The photos of the HORA bring back memories of the fun this group had and all the dancing. In addition to the band, West Coast Music had international singers and a Spanish Guitarist that was a huge hit at the wedding. Sarah K Chen captured the guitarist who performed tableside for Tallia & Gil. Thanks Sarah for documenting so many great details that their family will enjoy forever!

Tallia fell in love with Sarah K Chen’s photography the moment she saw her website. The photos are light and airy when shot with film and film can capture true color in it’s natural form. Sarah shoots digitally too….cause inside ballroom shots need digital help I think! Part One, pre-reception, where there was bright sunlight. I loved Tallia’s purse, how it matched the shoes…one that I would use for any cocktail party. Tallia wanted the color purple and black and white accents..her only demand! The rest was up to the design dreamer Sunny of White Lilac Inc to incorporate elegance to such a color palette. Little black was featured at the ceremony as the huppah was created with large bunches of phalaenopsis orchids, white ones attached to structure and lilac ones in front of the poles.

It started with the efforts of Nichelle Luc with Details A La Carte to to create and invite and save the date, that was ultra modern but simple, not in fussy design. Tallia loved layered papers and square shapes. We created an oversized invitation with the dark plum liner and matched the pantone color anytime we used purple. Square escort cards with baby stone accents were tucked into black sand boxes, giving a subtle hint of intrigue. “B” for Biberstein was a recognized symbol used throughout the wedding, and later on you will see in Part Two how it was highlighted.

Aubrey & Jordan got featured today as one of the “Real Weddings” shared on styleunveiled.com! Aubrey & Jordan wrote their inside tips on having a successful wedding. They are so sweet and make an amazing couple. Be sure to check out their feature…Samuel Lippke Studios rocks and took all these amazing images. Perfect timing to share a gothic and funeral themed save the date and invitation set we just finished for a 50th birthday party. It was fun to get creative with this one. We used textured red paper, black old lady lace and black envelopes. The Nicole Richie ankle tattoo of a crucifix was also an inspiration request that I think turned out so great with using a graphic of a crucifix as the T in Save The Date and then using a rosary to wrap around the pocketfold invitation that was covered in the lace. What a cool concept for a party, complete with funeral procession and all.
