Spring Love at Pelican Hill

It was a pleasure to help coordinate Esther & Lee’s wedding at Pelican Hill. Esther & Jeannie are dear friends from UCI, and since Jeannie was a guest to their wedding, I enjoyed taking part in the planning process and helping with the execution of their big day! Everything thing came together beautifully…we were a little nervous that it might rain, but we were able to stay dry and have their ceremony outside. Everything looked great and John was able to capture beautiful photographs.

One of my favorite elements of their wedding was their floral arrangements. I loved the peachy/blush flowers…so cheery and romantic. Their personals smelled amazing! I love the smell of gardenias, which were used in Lee’s boutonniere, the mothers’ corsages, and Esther’s hair flower. As you can see, everyone looked stunning. And how cute is the flower girl (Jeannie’s daughter) Madison?

Thanks to all the venders that were a part in this celebration at Pelican Hill! John with John and Joseph Photography, linens by Fusion Linens, decor and flowers by White Lilac, DJ Mike Soltani with the music, and lighting by Shine Lighting all added to the romantic ambiance!

Mona & Aunish’s Three Day Affair

Mona & Aunish exchanged their vows this past weekend at the St. Regis Resort. It was quite a spectacular week for our couple. The Mehndi and Sangeet celebration was held at Elevate Lounge in Los Angeles on Thursday followed by the Raas-Garba event at Norman P. Murray Community Center in Mission Viejo on Friday. Our wedding day started off with the traditional Barat as Aunish and his family processed into the Grand Lawn in a Phantom Rolls Royce Limousine. It was quite the upscale event as you can see. There were several Indian traditions that took place from the Hindu ceremony to the exchange of garlands between our bride and groom as well as our bridal party processional of Mona and her bridesmaids. Mona and Aunish have very impeccable tastes as you can see from their attire. I think these two can be magazine models by how gorgeous they are! Pay attention to Mona’s saris…the intricate bead work was amazing and the colors correlated to each event over the three day affair. Our floral designer, Shawna Yamamoto, brought in several modern elements as we tied in vibrant colors of fuchsia & tangerine. I can’t wait to post photographs with the additional details that were brought in for the evening festivities. Thank you to Matt and his team over at FortyOneTwenty for sharing this wedding with Details Details!

All The Fun Details

When I look back on Robert & Annie’s wedding I think about all the fun details that went into their wedding! Annie and Robert were both active in the planning process and had a lot of creative ideas. They picked a fun color/design scheme of fuchsia, black, and white. Their floral arrangements made a statement with big pops of fuchsia flowers, hanging crystals, and black manzanita trees. I loved the black and white damask linens on each guest table, and elements of damask throughout the decor. Annie is an extremely crafty gal, and put together her escort cards, programs, table numbers, and mini caramel apple favors. All guests could appreciate their love for UCLA as they added fun pictures of themselves in their UCLA tee-shirts on the back of their table numbers and tied on each caramel apple.

Robert and Annie have dear memories of UCLA, after all they officially got together after connecting through mutual friends from school. As the story goes, Robert built up some liquid courage from a little Patron and ended up talking to Annie. It was only appropriate to have Robert’s groom’s cake a replica of his liquid courage! One of my favorite details on the groom’s cake is the drunk and passed out mini Robert and Annie!

It was a joy to work with Robert and Annie. They are two of the sweetest people, and it was fun to seeing them have a blast during their wedding! Thanks to all the wedding venders who helped make their wedding so memorable. Annie’s brother, John, did a fantastic job capturing all the memories, and Jay with Cinevent Productions produced a lovely Same Day Edit that was enjoyed during their reception. Jonathan and Jeff with Cerritos All Stars kept the party going with some great tunes, and Johnny with JNS Floral Design brought their decor visions to life! It was a vision at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. The perfect wedding location for Robert & Annie as Robert proposed to Annie there!

Vintage Chalkboards

Etsy is always a great option when you are looking for something with a little charm for your wedding. Here are some adorable vintage chalkboards found on etsy. I can picture these chalkboards adding a vintage feel to a wedding. There are lots of different messages that would be neat to display. I like the idea of writing up the menu or even writing “thank you” and displaying it over your wedding favors. Etsy vender “RevivedVintage” has gotten creative with her different vintage inspired collections. Be sure to take a look through her different pieces.

Wine Lovers in Palos Verdes

Molly & Andy celebrated their nuptials at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church followed by their dinner reception at Terranea Palos Verdes Resort. With Molly working in the wine industry, it was a perfect combination to bring her love for wine into our wedding decor. Our color palate of shades of gray, pink and black were tied in from our bridesmaid’s dresses to our paper goods. Our guests were even given bottles of wine as they picked up their escort cards. Our floral decor was created by Kim, Art With Nature, and our black and white floral table linens created a fabulous backdrop to our centerpieces. Molly wore a Jim Hjelm wedding gown and I just love the grey sash which accented her gorgeous figure. All of our girls wore monogrammed terry cloth robes as they were getting ready in their private casita. Michael, Memories by Michael Photography, captured some great moments of our bridal party. The exciting part of the night was when our DJ, Jeff Holmes, played Sweet Carolyn by Neil Diamond…we had the entire wedding on the dance floor singing karaoke.

Vibrant Red Wedding

Judith & Mike’s wedding looked fantastic and made a statement with color! They chose a look that was vibrant…lots of red and pink florals and hanging crystals from tall centerpieces. I love the red details throughout the wedding, such as Judith’s shoes, the red sashes for the flower girls dresses, and even the candy at the reception. It was truly a romantic day with the wedding at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church and a reception to follow at the Hyatt Newport Beach. All the memories and highlights of their big day were beautifully captured by Jessica Claire’s photography and Elysium Production’s videography.

Brita & Ryan’s Destination Wedding

Brita & Ryan wanted a destination wedding, and decided that Mexico would be the place! Punta Mita, Mexica had just the right relaxed atomosphere, but tons personality for this party group. Fiori Fresco designed the wedding and turned it into a fiesta to remember for a lifetime! Elysium Productions did another fantastic job caputring all the fun and memories! 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans

Our past Details Details bride, Janice, has some valuable information to share with all of us. Janice found these guidlines from the dietary guidelines committee:

Every five years, a group of experts from around the country get together to debate the science behind nutrition recommendations for the general United States Public. On June 15, 2010, the most recent suggestions for dietary guidelines revisions were released and will be open for public comment through July 15th. Some of the major suggested changes to the dietary guidelines include:
-Reducing the recommended daily sodium intake from 2,300 mg to 1,500 mg
-Reducing the recommended percentage of calories from saturated fats to 7% (from 10%)
-Reducing the recommended trans fat daily limit from less than 1% to less than 0.5% of total calories
-Expanding nutrition education to improve nutrition literacy and cooking skills
Increasing availability of fresh produce to consumers
-Increasing the emphasis placed on health, nutrition, and physical education in schools

The new sodium recommendation will likely be one of the most challenging for Americans to meet. Most Americans currently consume anywhere from 3,000 to 8,000 mg of sodium each day, so getting to the new goal of 1,500 mg will likely prove significantly challenging. For example, many restaurant meals pack in at least 1000 mg or more of sodium. To keep sodium in check, the food industry and restaurants will need to start cutting back and manufacturers have agreed to scale back over the next several years.

To read the dietary guidelines committee report in its’ entirety and/or to submit a comment, visit: http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/dietaryguidelines.html

Thanks Janice for sharing the new 2010 guidelines with all of us!
