Although Dana and Andrew live in Seattle now, they didn’t always reside in that rainy windy city. They used to live in LA, so they came back for their engagement session as well as wrap up wedding plans. Dana, who swears she doesn’t wear makeup, was absolutely gorgeous with it….they looked like models, from serious expressions to looks of endearment. Those Betsey Johnson dresses were adorable too, I wish I could wear dresses every day. I would clean the house in a dress and high heels if I could, LOL. Can’t wait for this Martha Stewart style wedding, everything in Martha pink and yellow. Thanks to Triplecord for these pictures that I took off their blog!
The hot couple Sabrina and James, Seattle Washington residents, celebrated their love and were married at Trump National in Palos Verdes, CA. Sabrina and all her gal pals, had the sexist silver shoes, those are ones you can wear again! Sabrina’s wedding concept stemmed from her love of orchids in all colors and varieties. The bright orange, yellow, green and hot pinks were so perfectly balanced and looked great against the girls dresses. Nisie Enchanted Florist’s specialty is working with orchids so this was a perfect match! One thing that I just have to point out is her designer card box, I have never seen this so well done. It’s a company out in Florida that makes boxes to collect gift envelopes, check out their site For the Modern Bride.com But you have to order in advance as they busy with orders cause those boxes are so darn cute! And HUGE thanks to Michael from Memories by Michael for such great vibrant photos.
I was so fortunate to be able to travel to Nairobi, Kenya this spring. It was such a life changing experience that I can’t really explain. Think of the worst place you have ever been, multiply it by 1000, and then think about living there and growing up as a child in those conditions. No running water, no electricity, no toilet, food two or three times a week - when lucky, no showers, sharing a twin bed with 4 others and wearing the same clothes for days on end. We knew we had to do something immediately. Before I left for the trip, I thought that I would go over there, meet some cool kids at an orphanage and then come home with great memories, pictures and stories…I couldn’t have been more wrong. I fell in love with these 26 kids and think about them every single day. If I could only bring them all home… My contribution to the trip was to throw a BIRTHDAY BASH for these more than deserving children. I arranged for each child to have a brand new prince or princess costume, a bounce house (which in Africa is ONLY for the rich kids - never for the orphans), face painting, play-dough, bubbles, balloons, presents, coloring and lots of cupcakes! They have never seen or experienced anything like this celebration before. To put a smile on their faces, even if only for a couple of hours, was the most rewarding experience. Following the party, I am proud to say that we moved them into a new home with running water, electricity, showers, brand new beds (1 for each child), new school uniforms, backpacks, rainboots and we stocked their fridge! THANK YOU to all of those who supported me on this journey. I can’t wait to get back and see them again…Are you coming?
That was the theme for Kristina and Royce’s wedding, non intentionally but due to their long pre- marriage relationship of 15 years! Gosh, most marriages don’t last that long….congrats to the two of them for their unconditional love for one another and the mutual respect that keeps relationships strong and everlasting….a little quote from my hubbie, but I when I see it, I call it. This wedding wasn’t just about the emotions but it was a FUN party….Kristina, aka queen of scrapbooking, even painted her own table number stands cause she couldn’t find them in gold to match the rest of the decor: sexy, regal, Versace’s black and gold. Did you see the petal drop, maybe a bit less petals next time, lesson learned, just didn’t want it to not work. But loved the FINALLY sign, part of Kristina’s vows…and Royce’s shoes, it was all about the Jordans. I also had the pleasure of working with Ray and Erwin from Apertura Photography, they were so on top of things, timing and managing a large group. Thanks guys for the photos. Christina and Joe took their engagement photos with Jessica Claire a couple of weeks ago. What a beautiful couple! Please stay tuned for their wedding photos in June!
Here is an Arthouse Video Production! Be patient, it’s about 20 mins so it might take a bit to load. Thanks to Elysium Productions for allowing us to steal this off your BLOG.
Have you heard of this term in wedding video before? For those that haven’t, it’s the newest trend and only a few companies can do this. Guests never expect it! A video presented around cake cutting time, either through a big screen or MAC and shown to the guests all the festivities that happened earlier in the day. From getting ready to walking down the aisle, to grand entrance and first dance, it’s all being captured and then editted on site. YES, a little elf collects the tapes from the videographers and passes them off to the editor who sits vigorously at an editting system and produces a one song recap of the day so far…check this out! Produced by the one and only Elysium Productions!
Many of you know, one of the Senior Assistants for Details Details is getting married, the other Jeannie, aka JLe on wedding day timelines! Well, I was invited to her shower and was blown away at the beauty of the handmade paper invite, thaaaaat must of taken a long time to make, oh Nite!! (Maid of Honor and another senior DD gal) Guests dressed in black and white only, entered the perfectly decorated room: light pink matte satin linens, white flowers in wrapped glass containers, damask patterned paper menu and place cards in black and white, pink martinis and candy station party favors, well done ladies! It’s been awhile since I have been to one of these, baby showers marathon for me these days. SO I expected the “make a wedding dress out of toilet paper game”, nope! The newest modern version is decorate a 3 tier cake with frosting and ribbon and flowers and anything else you can find! OK, I was ready….our team had sample sketches planned out before we went into action..ok, we had a little advantage, Christine another DD assistant and I were on the same team so we have seen our fair share of cakes…and so yes, we won the competition! Got cute boxes with nail polish in them! We left full with food, candy, treats (raspberry tea cookies for me) and jeweled flip flops in personalized bags. Thanks SO Much to Stefanie from Eckman Maus Photography- Studio EMP for capturing all the details! I had so much fun, even though I was oldest gal there other than the moms and aunts, but I loved it, and love Jeannie. May your wedding be just as beautiful as you are!
One of my best friends Judy celebrated her pregnancy this past weekend as her mother (in Korea), another girlfriend and I hosted a intimate baby shower for her. Judy is having a girl, yeeeaaah…someone for my Maddie to play with. Evan Cate will be her name. As I got older, I realized that I steered clear of shower games since I had my fair share and just honed in on good food. We reserved a portion of the patio at Jin Patisserie in Venice. Quaint pastry tea house…always packed with locals. Owner Kristy makes the most beautiful food. It’s so pretty, that you don’t want to eat it. My favorites that day were: the egg salad sandwich, buttery scones, lavender chocolate cake and the endless cups of green tea. Hand calligraphy place cards (Lettering by Leslie) reserved seats for each guest. I am a believer of place cards when it comes to who sits where at one long table, and not necessary for groups of 100+ at multiple tables. Thanks to White Lilac who created the floral party favors and delivered them to LA for me, phew! Everyone loves to take flowers home!
